Each month, we make it a priority to showcase the talented employees who have worked tirelessly to build membersy from a small startup in 2015 to the company it is today. This month, our employee under the spotlight is Jorge Gonzalez, our Member Support Supervisor.
Q: How long have you been with membersy? And how has the company changed since you’ve been here?
“I got hired in the middle of the pandemic, around August of 2020. I met everyone virtually and we had half the number of employees we have today.”
Q: What does your typical day look like?
“My typical day consists of providing exceptional customer support to members as well as making sure my team has all the tools they need to do the same. It is my responsibility that all voicemails and emails from members be addressed in a timely manner and I handle any escalations that the day may bring in regards to members needing a bit more clarity when it comes to our terms of service. I monitor the queue throughout the day while making sure my team is ready to assist any and all members who may call in.”
Q: What is your favorite thing about working for membersy?
“My favorite thing about membersy is the leadership. Since day one, I knew I was in good hands when everywhere I looked someone was able to help me when I had a question. There is an open door policy with anyone in a position of leadership and I know that if there is ever anything I need I can count on them to get it done.”
Q: What is a fact that would surprise your coworkers?
“My coworkers would probably be surprised by how much I love quesadillas. Growing up, it was my favorite thing to eat and now, as an adult, I tend to order them at any restaurant I go to. So if you serve a bad quesadilla, well, then I most likely won’t be coming back!”
Q: What drew you to membersy originally?
“The first thing that drew me to membersy was the idea that I could make a difference in someone’s life by providing members with one of our dental savings plans. I’ve seen firsthand how much of a struggle it can be to not have insurance. It’s really unfortunate that there are folks out there enduring pain in order to save thousands of dollars they cannot afford to spend. Our plans tremendously help families, similar to mine growing up, and it gives me peace of mind that I am doing something to make even a little bit of a difference.”
Q: Before working at membersy, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
“Before working at membersy I worked as a Ground Electronics Transmission Systems Maintainer in the United States Marine Corps. Most job schools in the Marine Corps are about 3-6 months in length, however, mine was over a year long! There was a lot to learn and understand about basic electronics and radio transmissions, but it challenged me to think outside the box. Troubleshooting is one of my favorite things to do and figuring out why something isn’t working all the way down to the component level always fascinated me. I use that same way of thinking every day in my life and I believe that so long as I put my mind to it, there is nothing I cannot solve.”
Q: What’s something you’ve always wanted to try but never have?
“I have always wanted to go snowboarding but have never gotten the opportunity to do so. It always looks so cool in the movies and I always imagine myself going down a mountain with all the gear on and getting some great pictures. Except I know if I fall down I will probably stay down and nowadays, as we get older, our body can’t take falls like it used to as a kid.”
